It’s Super Bowl Weekend! And even if you aren’t a football fan (especially if you aren’t) it marks the end of football season as well as one game where the commercials are good- or at least expensive! But since the game isn’t until Sunday night we still need some great stuff to do!

Saturday, February 3rd 10:00 AM-12:00 PM  (Hoboken, Jersey City and Weehawken) Head over to Bright Horizons for their Saturday Family Fun Event- a Move & Groove Dance Party! Come on out, meet new friends and create memorable experiences with your child, RSVP required. Space is limited

Saturday, February 3rd 2:00 PM-4:30 PM (Jersey City) Join the folks at Hudson Community College for a unique, hands-on culinary experience at their award-winning Culinary Arts Institute, ranked #8 in the country. Whether you are a novice cook or a true gourmet, their cooking and baking classes will help you raise your culinary game. Learn how to make a delicious mini pie from fresh, in-season ingredients. Learn tips and techniques on how to make the perfect pie crust and get creative with an array of tasty fillings. Ages 4 and up $35 per class

Saturday, February 3rd 3:00 PM- 4:30 PM (NYC) Who would’ve thought we’d love a cockroach? We love Martina la Cucarachita (The little roach) at Teatro SEA .This play, based on the Cuban/Puerto Rican tale of a little roach, follows Martina the roach on her many adventures and lessons on the path to find true love. All ages.

Saturday, February 3rd 6:30 PM- 7:00 PM  It’s a great night for a hike! For the first time in almost 20 years, the month of February will not have a full moon. Join the naturalists at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum to learn more about why this happens at the BLACK MOON NIGHT HIKE. After the hike, warm up with a cup of hot cocoa in the Stone House and learn about the mammals that call New Jersey home. $8 for members $10 non-members

Saturday and Sunday February 3 + 4 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM (Metuchen 40 minutes from Hoboken and Jersey City) Bring the little ones to a live musical performance of a children’s classic; “Charlotte’s Web”. There will be matinees offered at 1:00 PM until February 25th at the Forum Theater in Metuchen. This exciting musical version of brings a new dimension to E.B. White’s beloved classic. With music and lyrics by Charles Strouse (Annie, ‘Bye, ‘Bye Birdie) young audiences will thrill to a musical score which includes “Eating,” Wilbur the pig’s humorous yet poignant song about growing up; “Who Says We Can’t Be Friends,” an enchanting duet between Wilbur and his new-found companion Charlotte; “Welcome to the Zuckerman Barn,” featuring all the story’s unforgettable animals in a hand-clapping, toe-tapping hoe-down; and “Summer,” a haunting, nostalgic chorus number which evokes a time and place from everyone’s childhood. Tickets are $15 for children $18 for adults.

Saturday and Sunday February 3 + 4 (NYC) Some folks won’t be getting enough football this weekend For them there is the NFL Experience in Times Square This offer will get you 50% off the admission if you book by 2/2. The NFL Experience is “a football theme park in the middle of Times Square. Enjoy three floors filled with football tidbits, behind-the-scenes clips and memorabilia as the exhibit mixes “high-tech and traditional displays into an immersive attraction. There’s also a 4-D movie that takes visitors onto the field on game day. You can even refuel at the food court featuring rotating dishes from the 32 NFL cities.

Sunday February 4th 1:30 PM (Hoboken) Bring the  little ones to the Hoboken Historical Museum for story time with special guest readers from the Hoboken Public Library. FREE thanks to a grant from the Hoboken Family Alliance.

Sunday February 4th 1:00 PM-4:00 PM (NYC) Celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year, and the lunar sign for 2018, the Earth Dog at the Rubin Museum , by painting with the most basic element: mud! Play with materials taken from the earth and then plant your very own Losar Metok, Tibet’s winter flower! See how the Metok grows through time.   FREE for children and accompanying adults
