Welcome to March! It’s an amazingly exciting weekend filled with multi-cultural fun. Things to do this weekend March 3 + 4 include Holi-fests, a Lunar New Year Celebration as well as the arrival of the David Bowie exhibition from England.
Saturday, March 3rd 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM (Neshanic Station, NJ) 1 hour from Hoboken/JC) Junior Golfers (7-15 years old) check out this “Junior Golf Open House” at the Neshanic Valley Callaway Golf Learning Center The Somerset County Junior Golf Program is the longest running and most successful junior program in the area, having produced several PGA professionals, including one touring PGA pro and one LPGA touring pro. The Open House will provide an introduction to the new 2018 Summer Camps, Clinic, Schools, and Programs. Director of Instruction Fred Glass (PGA) and Lead Instructor David Chung (PGA) will be on hand, leading tours of the indoor and outdoor practice facilities. Juniors will also be able to participate in putting and chipping contests with a chance to win a free golf lesson. FREE
Saturday, March 3rd 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM (Jersey City) The Lenox, Paulus Hook’s new family-friendly luxury apartment community will be celebrating Jersey City families this weekend at JC Super Saturday. Head over for an early afternoon of singalongs, magic, juggling, face painting, caricatures, balloon art and refreshments, brought to you by local vendors. All ages. FREE

Saturday, March 3rd 10:30 AM -4:00 PM (Brooklyn 46 minutes from Hoboken/JC) Spring is in the air! While Holi celebrations are scheduled throughout the Spring, this is one of the 1st! Families can head to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum to celebrate Holi Hooray, a spring Indian Color Festival that will include a day of art, dance and food. The highlight of the afternoon is the outdoor color powder procession and extravaganza, so come dressed in white and ready to get completely covered in (non-toxic, washable) powder to look like a walking rainbow. Saturday, March 3rd 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM (NYC) The Museum of Modern Art offers “Tours for Fours” Parents and kids tour MoMA’s galleries in a fun and engaging way, sharing their ideas about the art and have questions answered by museum educators. A new theme is introduced each month, so you and your tot can get the scoop on everyone from Rauschenberg to Rothko. In March the focus is all about how different modern artists used color. Age 4. Saturday and Sunday March 3rd and 4th (continuing until July 2018) 11:00 AM-6:00 PM Rebel! Rebel! The acclaimed David Bowie Exhibition arrives at the Brooklyn Museum this weekend! This exhibition explores the creative process of an artist whose sustained reinventions, innovative collaborations, and bold characterizations revolutionized the way we see music, inspiring people to shape their own identities while challenging social traditions. David Bowie is presents approximately 400 objects Highlights of the exhibition include more than 60 custom-made performance costumes, including six designed by Freddie Burretti for Ziggy Stardust / 1980 Floor Show and seven designed by Kansai Yamamoto for Aladdin Sane. A custom audio mix made up of snippets of Bowie’s songs—produced by longtime collaborator Tony Visconti—is also featured. Adult admission $16 Children 19 and under FREE
Saturday and Sunday, March 3rd and 4th various times and venues (NYC) The New York International Children’s Film Festival (for children ages 3 and up) showcases approximately 125 features and shorts from around the globe each year, and rounds out the experience with retrospectives, interactive workshops and filmmaker Q&As for families. This year, don’t miss a special sneak peek at the second season of A Series of Unfortunate Events, animated features and shorts from Japan, Mexico and other far-flung cultures, and special talks about the future of virtual reality. Young audience members can cast their votes in various categories for best in fest. Tickets $14-$17
Saturday and Sunday, March 3rd and 4th various times (Brooklyn 33 minutes from Hoboken/JC) Light up the weekend with Brooklyn Academy of Music’s “Digital Playground” TEKNOPOLIS with immersive art-tech installations.The BAM Fisher Building is transformed into a massive gallery of cutting-edge exhibits from artists and inventors from around the world. This year’s collection of exhibits includes a cascading 20 foot-tall wall of full-color LEDS called Light Orchestra, a chance to direct and act in your own film with Storymaker, virtual reality experiences, interactive films and much more. Entry is timed with 90-minute sessions during the day or 2 hours in the evening. Best for ages 6 and up. $18-$25
Sunday, March 4th 12:00 PM- 5:00 PM (Short Hills NJ 33 minutes from Hoboken/JC) Join the naturalists at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and the Millburn-Short Hills Indian American Association as we welcome spring with a celebration of colors, music, and fresh air. Sunday, March 4th 12:00 PM- 5:00 PM (Maplewood, NJ) Lunar New Year is the beginning of the year according to the lunar calendar, and is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in Asia. Lunar Fest NJ will showcase local talent including local Asian American dancers, musicians, chefs, writers, and artists. Families will have the opportunity to participate in several hands-on workshops, while sampling a variety of regional cuisines from local Asian restaurants. Lunar Fest NJ will also feature an eclectic mix of jewelry, clothing, and handicraft vendors. All ages. FREE
