(Jersey City) Did you know that Liberty State Park is a key destination for migrating winter waterfowl? Join the folks at the park for a guided walk along the river to learn about some of these winter visitors. The walk will begin at the Park Office located at 200 Morris Pesin Drive. Please dress to be outside and bring binoculars if you have them. Binoculars will be available to borrow. Saturday February 24th 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM (Jersey City)Kids can paint their hearts out at “Art From The Heart” a monthly art workshop for kids!! This month the children will paint a “Whimsical Owl” painting on canvas with instructor Barbara Portelli an art educator of the Jersey city public school district. Class takes place at 350 Warren Street  Tickets available here Price: $40/child which includes canvas and supplies. Mimosas and treats for the adults!

You can dive into the deep blue at the all-new National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey in Times Square. Join Time Out New York Kids as you journey through the immersive digital underwater experience, during which you’ll come face-to-face with humpback whales, great white sharks, sea lions and more, all without getting wet! Saturday February 24th 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM (Jersey City) In celebration of the 89th anniversary of the inaugural run of the Blue Comet train, join the folks at LSP at the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal for Blue Comet Day! Journey back in time to learn about the trail of the famous Blue Comet train all the way to its final destination of Atlantic City. 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM All Aboard! – A children’s program, which will include a talk about trains and a take home craft. This program is appropriate for ages 5 to 10 years old. Pre-registration is required, and all children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Anthony Puzzilla, author of New Jersey Central’s Blue Comet, will speak about the Blue Comet and his inspiration to write about the famed train. Mr.Puzilla will then be available for a Q&A session, along with copies of his book available for purchase. 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Trail of the Blue Comet – This program will include a discussion about the lasting impact of the Blue Comet, artifacts from the train, and a clip from the documentary, “Deluxe: The Tale of the Blue Comet.” No pre-registration is required. 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM “Deluxe: The Tale of the Blue Comet.” – A showing of Robert A. Emmons Jr.’s 90-minute documentary in the Blue Comet Auditorium. No pre-registration is required. Saturday February 24th 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM (Englewood 32 minutes from Hoboken/JC) Head over to BergenPAC and get your turtle on! Turtle Dance Music aims to spark children’s curiosity and imaginations through interactive, inclusive musical performances that use a wide range of instruments, stuffed animals, games and technology. The sensory-friendly performance is geared for Pre-K, grades K-5 and also students on the Autism Spectrum Tickets $19

Saturday February 24th 1:00 PM- 5:00 PM (Westfield  39 minutes from Hoboken/JC) Run to the Kid’s Expo at the Westfield YMCA Free and open to the community! All activities are at the Main Y Facility: – T-Ball and Basketball Stations – Bounce House – Arts & Crafts – Carnival Games – PlayaBowl Samples – Camp Open House – 2:00PM Kids Yoga Demo – Dance Academy Mini-Demo Classes (20 min.) – 2:30PM Little Movers (ages 3-5) – 3:00PM Jazz and Hip Hop (ages 6-13)

Sunday February 25th 1:00 PM- 5:00 PM  (Summit NJ  40 minutes from Hoboken/JC) Visit the Reeves-Reed Arboretum and learn how early settlers tapped maple trees and turned the sap into delicious maple syrup! Take part in a family scavenger hunt and see whether you can successfully complete the “Maple Syrup Challenge.” Round out the day with a sampling of maple syrup made at the Arboretum! Admission is $5 per person, $25 maximum per family. Pre-registration is not required. Payment is taken at the front gate. The rain/snow date for this event is Sunday, March 4. Questions? Sunday February 25th 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM Purim Festival at the United Synagogue of Hoboken for families with children 5 & under. Wear your costume, shake your grogger and join us for a fun morning including magician, Justin Connors, Drum Tales, 2 musicians: Hebrew and English, face painting, a photo booth and more! Enjoy a child-friendly Megillah reading and costume parade in the sanctuary led by Rabbi Scheinberg. Hamantaschen, refreshments and more will be served. OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY! Bring your friends!! Cost: Free for current KPS students and USH members All others $10/persons age 2 and older
