Clik here to view.Well the holidays are literally days away and if you aren’t busy getting centerpieces made , you can beat the Thanksgiving weekend rush with a visit to Santa (we’ve assembled the best and several offer reserved sessions!) or ice skating at a local rink (most are now open) or check out the holiday lights at Skylands or Turtleback Zoo opening THIS weekend. Saturday November 18 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM Holidays making you want to run away? Run away with the circus! Head to Circus Warehouse for the annual New York Regional Youth Circus Festival where circus wannabes can try their hand at various circus arts. This full day of workshops at the Circus Warehouse in Long Island City for kids ages 8 to 21 (from beginner to advanced), includes lessons in trapeze, wire walking, clowning, partner acrobatics, juggling, stilt walking, unicycling, and more. No experience necessary, so the brave and curious will have a full day to try new things, and advanced circus students will get to hone their skills with experienced professionals. No experience necessary, but purchasing tickets in advance is a must.
Saturday November 18 8:00 PM Get ready for a jaw-dropping spectacle of Chinese circus, acrobatics, and traditional Shaolin martial arts at the State Theater in New Brunswick. This internationally-renowned troupe features over 100 amazing acrobats, magicians, and martial artists, who have appeared with such troupes as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Cirque du Soleil, and the Big Apple Circus. With unparalleled grace and precision, they execute astonishing feats showcased with music and dazzling costumes.
Saturday November 18 11:30 AM- 12:15 PM Children 3-7 can enjoy nature story time at the Tenafly Nature Center. This nature-themed story time is capped off with a special visit from one of the nature center’s Animal Ambassadors. Kids will learn about the animal and how it came to Tenafly Nature Center. A different story and animal are featured each month. Animals may include snakes, frogs, turtles or owls.
Saturday November 18th 2:00 PM and a sensory friendly performance at 1 pm on November 19th Start a holiday tradition with a classic story brought to life – The Nutcracker The American Repertory Ballet celebrates the holiday season with its annual production of Tchaikovsky’s beloved classic at the Union County Performing Arts Center , featuring a cast of more than 100 dancers. Enjoy stunning sets, thrilling choreography, and a magnificent score.
Saturday and Sunday November 18 & 19 10:00 AM-6:00 PM The New York Transit Museum Gallery Annex and Store at Grand Central Terminal (not the Brooklyn location) is back with its annual Holiday Train Show, whose layout features Lionel trains traveling through a two-level, 34-foot-long miniature New York City and countryside scene. Vintage trains from the museum’s collection, including New York Central models, travel all the way to the diorama’s North Pole.
Saturday and Sunday November 18 & 19 times vary The Rockettes start strutting their stuff in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular throughout the holidays and it really is an amazing experience for all ages! We found a discount offer for pre-Thanksgiving that saves you up to 50% with tickets as low as $24.50- that’s less than a $1 a Rockette! There are multiple shows throughout the day beginning at 10:00 AM all the way ’til 8:00 PM!
Saturday and Sunday November 18 & 19 10:00 AM MoMA in NYC has a special FREE program – Tours for Fours- Take your children on a journey through art, where every room is a new learning experience. MoMA invites you to look, listen and share ideas while checking out modern and contemporary arts. Open to four-year-olds and their families; individual families of up to two adults and up to three children. Younger siblings may accompany the group, but participating child must be four years old.

Sunday November 19th 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Mommies Heart2Heart in Jersey City is doing a Thanksgiving Food Drive benefitting families at The YMCA of Newark and Vicinity, Hoboken Shelter, Food Not Bombs, and pets at the Liberty Humane Society. The collection will take place at Windsor at Liberty House in the Alexa Room. Non perishable items requested are: Brown rice, Canned beans (no meat sauce), Canned vegetables , Whole wheat pasta, Tomato sauce, Canned fruit, Low sodium Goya spices, Kid food pouches, Snack foods, Canned soup, Canned pasta, Canned ready-to-eat meals, Canned corn, Apple sauce, Juice, Dog/cat food as well as Dish detergent, Sponges, Brooms, Mops, Lysol spray disinfectant, Baby wipes and Diapers.
