Jen’s Day Off: Flatiron

Flatiron-Building-Edward-Hopper-Nighthawks-Hopper-Drawing-NYC-Whitney-MuseumThe Fall season is incredibly busy- between back to school and a full schedule of presentations and holiday card orders I know I needed an afternoon to myself with a general  destination and a goal of relaxation. I want to share that journey with you. This week- the Flatiron District named after the Flatiron Building at 23rd Street. Join me on my journey to find the newest spots for fun!

Shopping

To die for

I just love wandering around ABC Home. Such a visual delight with such creativity.

They do Dishes- and great hostess gifts!

I made a stop at the Flatiron mainstay Fishs’ Eddy to fondle their original restaurant china as well as their new proprietary homegoods designed in partnership with artists like Todd Oldham with an eye towards quirky vintage that I love! This is a treasure trove for stocking up on unique hostess gifts.

Jen's Day Off Flatiron$400 Yoga Pants? Say hello to Bandier.

Bandier-born in Southampton, this 2 year old athleisure clothing company is giving Lululemon a run for their money. The founder, Jennifer Bandier, was frustrated by a lack of stylish choices when she was recovering from an injury and needed comfortable clothing with style so she sought out smaller clothing designers and gave them a home in Bandier. The flagship store at Fifth and 21st has their 2nd fl Studio B offering the latest fitness classes. And the $400 yoga pants were nowhere to be seen, but there are a thousand other gorgeous things to choose from!

Jen's Day Out Flatiron

To The Roof!

Anyone who knows me knows I love summer, and rooftop bars. Both of my loves come together at Sabbia– the pop-up rooftop bar at Eataly (corner of Fifth and 23rd- if you haven’t experienced the Italian love-child market by chefs Lydia Bastianich and Mario Batali be prepared to swoon). Sabbia’s concept is the Italian seaside and in addition to striped cabanas and bright red lanterns the restaurant offers a seaside menu that includes summery roses and gorgeous nibbles. Enjoy it while you can, Sabbia turns back into biergarten Birreria on October 1.

I would suggest having a drink here before heading to ABC Vegan which is a very chic restaurant via Jean- Georges Vongerichten sourcing local and organic ingredients and delicious drinks!
