Moms need a beach bag that will give her a sense of style and also make getting to the beach hassle free. Stock your beach bag and leave it by the door, only swapping out bathing suit, towel and drinks/snacks. (For packing the little ones check out Mateo’s Beach Bag with everything from beach blanket to super-safe SPF sticks)
Bag it
I like a sturdy bag and swear by the French Market style of carry-all. Mine last for years and never let me down! You can find a good selection of beach totes right in Bay Head at Del Mar East.
Skin Savers
We spend a lot of time near and on the beach so sun protection is essential. For suncreen I love LaRoche Posay and for my face Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense.
Cover Up
I always wear a cover-up to the beach but almost despaired of finding one this year- until I found this one by Muche et Muchette. Your scalp and hair can suffer from too much sun- My go to is a loosely woven cowboy hat but I also love the handwoven straw hats from Tula which you can find at Del Mar East.
Getting Wet
My swim costume was eaten by a luggage conveyor belt on the way back from Miami last Spring. This made for an excellent excuse to get a new one from my favorite beach designer- Eberjey.
Stretch Out
Protection from the sand should be more than just a beach towel- Terrain has gorgeous beach blankets made of Turkish cotton.
Beach Fun
I like to have at least one book and one game in the bag, to cover relaxing or the need to move! I found a terrific list of new(ish) summer reads from Refinery29 (click on the covers for a synopsis) and for a bit of play, this giant jenga-like game looks like great fun!
Clean Eats
After a Winter of eating clean I looked for something to keep me energized and also fill me up that wasn’t junk. The answer came when I met Taylor Jones. He is a Jersey Shore local and co-founder, with his brother Hale, of Jones Bars. The brothers make yummy bars from simple organic ingredients. The bars are available at the Playa Bowl in Bay Head or in bulk on the Jones Bars website.
After Care
Even though it isn’t in my beach bag, it definitely is a part of my post beach shower- the sun and the salt really take a toll on your skin, try this Goe Oil it really brings the glow back.
