Saturday, March 17th 9:00 AM—10:30 AM (Summit NJ 37 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Let’s Get Growing for Kids: Sow and Sprout! Seeds have arrived at the Reeves Reed Arboretum, let’s celebrate! Head over to their greenhouse for a fun seed starting project to make, take, and watch grow. Register your child for this creative hands-on planting activity. Best for ages 5-10 $25 per participant

Saturday March 17th 10:30 AM-5:30 PM (Montclair NJ 29 minutes from Hoboken and JC) The Montclair Literary Festival and Succeed 2gether will host a day of FREE author and illustrator-led  children’s storytelling, discussion and activities. At three different rooms at the Montclair Public Library as well as East Side Mags, The Creativity Caravan, and the Montclair Art Museum. Activities at the Montclair Art Museum include Eric Carle inspired collage, SCi-Fi story writing and more- ages 3-12+. Registration required for activities taking place at the Montclair Art Museum.

Saturday March 17th 11:00 AM-3:00 PM (New Brunswick NJ 39 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Rutgers 8th Annual Kidfest sponsored by Magic 98.3, along with the Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, is celebrating spring at the College Avenue Gym at Rutgers University! Get the kids out of the house for a day of live entertainment, game zones, the Magyar Bank rock climbing wall, photo booth, and so much more! Saturday March 17th 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM (NYC) Fusing puppetry, dance and technology, Symphony Space’s upcoming Just Kidding performance allows little ones to fall in love with a young dinosaur and the scientist who created him. This glow-in-the-dark show is as sweet as it is spectacular, but might be a bit scary for those who are under 5, as it features some glowing dino teeth. Tickets start at $14  Best for ages 6 and up.

Saturday, March 17 from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM (Jersey City) Hudson County Community College Culinary Arts Program presents “Chocolate Delights” a cooking class for kids and adults!  Channel your inner Willy Wonka and learn to create sweet treats from start to finish with your child. Mix and stir your way through the basics of milk, white, and dark chocolate, learning how to dip and garnish confectionary creations, and other chocolate treats! Saturday March 17th at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM (Morristown NJ 42 minutes from Hoboken and JC) New Shanghai Circus tumbles into the Mayo Performing Arts Center this weekend. Astonishing athletes defy gravity and execute breathtaking feats as they stretch the limits of human ability in this spellbinding show that draws upon 2,000 years of Chinese circus traditions. If it’s humanly possible – and even if it seems as if it’s not – these acrobats, jugglers and contortionists do it with spectacular flair! Best for ages 6 and up. Tickets start at $19

Saturday and Sunday March 17th & 18th 1:30 PM  and 3:30 PM (Queens NY 40 Minutes from Hoboken and JC) Make it: WoodBots! Take a break from exploring the wonders of the New York Hall of Science for this one-hour-and-half workshop. Using saws, drills and high-tech elastic technology, kids create posable robots out of wood that will be the perfect edition to their trinket collection. $5 per parent and child pair with Museum admission. Best for age 6 and up.

Saturday and Sunday March 17th & 18th at 2:00 PM (West Orange NJ 30 minutes from Hoboken and JC)  Take your herd for a visit to TurtleBack Zoo for a BEHIND THE SCENES visit to the Giraffe house! Your ticket includes: a 30 -45 minute Behind the Scenes Tour a Meet and greet with the Giraffe Keeper
and Admission to the zoo for the day (for non-Zoological Society members) Best for children ages 6 and over. Group sizes are limited to 10 people and sell out FAST Tickets $50 per person

Sunday March 18th various times 11:00 AM- 3:00 PM (Short Hills NJ 37 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Late winter is a special time for the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum. Join Cora’s Conservation Corps teen volunteers as they guide you through the woods and show you that winter is the best time to look for signs of wildlife. Become a Citizen Scientist and help record important data this season! On Sunday, March 18, learn all about FrogWatch USA! Please dress for the weather and be prepared for the outdoors and changing trail conditions. Hikes depart at 11am, 1 pm and 3 pm and will last about 45 minutes each. Good for all ages. $10 per participant.

Sunday March 18th 1:00 PM-2:00 PM (Chatham NJ 35 minutes from Hoboken and JC)Come spend a soothing hour of peaceful planting and connecting with the natural environment and with others at Alstede Farms. This premier event will be directed by a local Horticulture Therapist. You will realize the psychological, physical and social benefits of engaging with planting materials. You will create an individualize project in our greenhouse that you will take home to nurture and grow. This inclusive activity is open to all ages and abilities, all are welcome. Admission $10 per participant
