Stuff to DO This Weekend: Father’s Day Edition

Father’s Day! It’s time to say thanks to Dad for all he does all year long- so after letting him sleep in, “helping” him with chores, we’ve found some great ways to show your appreciation for being the best dad ever!

Saturday June 17th 11:00 am-4:00 pm Adventures NYC in Central Park gives Dad and the family a FREE day of fun = bike, climb, race, and glide. Activities will include rock climbing, VR Surfing, mountain biking, obstacle races and outdoor survival training

Saturday June 17  7:00 pm Monster Jam  at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford is an action-packed live event on four wheels where world-class drivers compete in front of crowds in both monster truck racing and freestyle competitions. Celebrating 25 years of family entertainment, Monster Jam combines spontaneous entertainment with off-road motorsport competition. Monster Jam features some of the most recognizable trucks in the world including Grave Digger, Max-D, El Toro Loco, Monster Mutt, and many more. Monster Jam events leave viewers on the edge of their seat as competitors thrill fans with jaw-dropping displays of gravity-defying feats. Tickets available here

Saturday and Sunday June 17 & 18  10:30 AM to 6:00 PM Cowboy Up at Wild West City NJ Travel back in time to Dodge City, Kansas circa 1880 – home to gunslingers, gangsters and gold seekers. Stroll down Main Street and look out for 22 live-action shows daily, living history exhibits, a barnyard zoo, panning for gold activities and more! Dads admitted free all weekend!

Saturday and Sunday June 17 & 18  11:00 AM to 6:00 PM   Diggerland USA lets children and families drive, ride and operate ACTUAL machinery. The park covers 14 acres and comprised of over 25 real, diesel powered, full size, pieces of construction equipment. Each machine is modified to be safe for the public, and children as small as 36″ On June 18th- Dads dig free!

Saturday and Sunday June 17 & 18 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pow Wow? And How! Raritan Pow Wow is an authentic American Indian gathering attracting over 500 Native American artists, educators, singers, dancers and performing groups from across the Americas. There will be over 40 artist booths selling crafts, jewelry, food and more. Tickets available here.

Saturday and Sunday June 17 & 18 12:30- PM to 5:00 PM Go Fish! Family Fishing Derby Head to Manasquan reservoir (Saturday) or Turkey Swamp Park (Sunday) during NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife’s annual No-License-Required fishing weekend for the Park System’s annual fishing derby for both beginners and experienced anglers. Prizes and free classes for beginners. Fishing pole rental available and a free container of worms (Yuck!) with every registration.
