Don’t let this last gasp of Winter keep you indoors! The weekend has all sorts of activities from egg hunts and branches to volunteering and crafting. Missing out simply ISN’T an option!

Friday March 23rd 6:00 PM-9:00 PM (Hoboken) Kids Night at the Museum is a chance for kids ages 5 and up to leave their parents at home and have their own night of fun! Kids can spend the evening at the Hoboken Historical Museum and enjoy games, arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, dinner, and more! It’s a night of supervised fun for the kids, giving parents a chance to enjoy a night out too! $30 per child, $20 for members’ children (members, please call or email Education Curator Maria Lara at 201-656-2240 or education@hobokenmuseum.org for the code). Click here to register your child(ren).

Saturday March 24th 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Summit, NJ 36 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Discovery Saturday at the Reeves Reed Arboretum. This week’s topic: Budding Branches! Make a discovery at the Arboretum and enjoy a unique family experience. Head to the Stackhouse Education Center on Saturdays, any time between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, for an interactive exploration of nature. Each week discover a new plant, animal or environmental topic through experiments, stories, games, and crafts. Borrow an Arboretum backpack loaded with binoculars, field guides, a magnifying glass and everything else needed for outdoor Arboretum adventure! No pre-registration is necessary. Adults must be accompanied by a child! $5.00 per child

Saturday March 24th 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Teach your child to care for the elderly! Join Mommies Heart to Heart at St Ann’s Home. Children and the elderly residents will spend quality time as they paint wooden eggs! Feel free to bring a baked good or handmade card/craft to share with the grandmas and grandpas. Street parking available. 198 Old Bergen Road, Jersey City, NJ. RSVP here

Saturday March 24th 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM(Jersey City) Hop on over to the Easter Egg Hunt in Hamilton Par,  a candy-free event! Once kids collect eggs, they will turn them in for treats, ranging from gliders to necklaces. Be sure to bring your own Easter basket or container. If your child wants to participate in the egg hunt, be sure to check the schedule of events as there will be different time slots for different age groups. The younger kids can be accompanied by parents, and older kids will have the opportunity to search for eggs on their own.  Be sure to check the schedule and RSVP to join in on the fun! The day will also include dance performances from NIMBUS Dance Works and Next Step Broadway. A DJ will be spinning tunes and there will be food vendors and other local businesses and schools represented.  And of course, the Easter Bunny will be on hand to meet and greet all the revelers. Saturday March 24th 11:00 AM-2:00 PM (Bloomfield, NJ 30 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Brunch with the Easter Bunny at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center in time for Easter. Children ages 3 to 9 will participate in a craft project, have a picture taken with the Bunny and receive a balloon and a special treat. $16 per child, $12 per adult Children must be accompanied by an adult. Saturday March 24th 12:00 PM-3:00 PM (New Milford, NJ 30 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Visit Fresh and Fancy Farms for their 5th Annual All-natural Easter egg dyeing and decorating on the farm! $15 per child – includes 6 eggs to dye along with spring crafts! COME ANYTIME BETWEEN 12pm – 3pm Families can decorate eggs at the farm with all-natural dyes, made with beets, blueberries, carrot tops, paprika, grapes and more! This also includes a spring craft. Coffee, tea, farm-fresh cookies & pies will be available!

Saturday March 24th 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Summit, NJ 30 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Hunt for Easter eggs in your bathing suit! Oops! The Easter Bunny left some eggs in the pool at the Summit YMCA and he needs your help getting them! You will have 15 minutes to collect eggs and 15 minutes for egg prize exchange. Make sure you bring your swimsuit, towel, and bucket to collect your eggs. Children under 6 need to be accompanied by an adult in the pool. Saturday and Sunday March 24th & 25th 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM (Chester, NJ 1 hour from Hoboken and JC)  Easter and Springtime Family Festival at Alstede Farms Enjoy scenic hayrides around the farm, visits with barnyard animals, a meet-and-greet with the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, games, pony rides, a moon bounce, campfire-roasted marshmallows, and lots more. Adults $7.99; Seniors: $5.99; Children(12 and under) $19.99

Sunday March 25th 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM (Jersey City) Come on out to Liberty State Park and help clean up the interpretive gardens around the Nature Interpretive Center just in time for spring! Please dress to work outdoors, wear sturdy shoes, and bring work gloves if you have them. We will meet at the Nature Interpretive Center located on Freedom Way. This program is appropriate for adults, volunteer groups, and children ages 5 and older with caregiver. Any volunteers ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult during the entire time they are volunteering. Sunday March 25th 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Jersey City) Learn the craft of artisan bread baking at Hudson Community College’s Culinary Conference Center. The artistry of baking can be richly rewarding and enjoyable when you possess a strong foundation in the basics. Learn about the ingredients and techniques used by the professionals to cre­ate delicious quick breads and batter breads that you can take home. $60 class fee . Sunday March 25th 12:30 PM- 2:00 PM (Randolph, NJ 50 minutes from Hoboken and JC) Join in on the Passover fun at the Gottesman RTW Academy  Building Ancient Egypt There you can visit Egypt and get your passport stamped! Go back in time to see how Ancient Egypt was built while celebrating Passover. Dress up like Ancient Egyptians, and build Lego pyramids! Food will be served. Appropriate for children ages 2-6. FREE

Sunday March 25th 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM (Maplewood 30 minutes from Hoboken and Jersey City)  Hop on Down to the 34th annual Egg Hunt sponsored by Maplewood Recreation. Please arrive promptly at noon with a basket or bag to make sure you don’t miss anything. Sunday March 25th 3:30 PM-4:30 PM (Tenafly, NJ 20 minutes from Hoboken and Jersey City)  Learn about maple-sugaring at the Tenafly Nature Center Discover the history of syrup making and how technology has changed the way sap has been gathered over the centuries. We’ll check the Center’s tapped tree and observe how sap is boiled down to make fresh maple syrup- a sweet treat for all to taste. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain or shine. Dress warmly; the program will take place indoors and outdoors. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
